STREET STYLE: AUTUMN

The leaves are fading to red-orange hues and the winter chill is approaching. Monochrome, simplistic and minimalist outfits suitable for the cooler temperatures come to mind when experiencing the season. Incorporate blazers, felt hats, and black heels or brogues into your styling. Try going for a natural look with a touch of colour, perhaps bright pink, coral or peach lipstick, paired with bold accessories including clutches, handbags, or chunky watches and bracelets. Start getting those jumpers and trench coats out of your closet too.
The Lipstick Girl loves Alexa Chung's mix-matching of pieces in her outfit ensembles.

MY VINTAGE FINDS: BROOCHES!

Being an avid vintage collector, I adore vintage fashion accessories. In particular, rare and unique brooches are great finds. Brooches are easy to wear and add a stylish touch to any outfit. Here are some of my best finds of beautiful brooches, both old and new, each with an old-fashioned twist.

  1. 1950s multi-coloured flower brooch with leaves and berries.
  2. 1950/60s oval cream and orange ceramic floral brooch with metal border detail.
  3. 1920s style art deco blue, silver and black bow brooch.
  4. Oval brooch with Monet's painting, from Claude Monet's Garden in Giverny, France.
  5. Coral, cream and gold-coloured oval cameo brooch, from Kirribilli Markets, Sydney.
  6. 1990s metallic blue-grey circular brooch with stars and multi-coloured diamentes, from Paddington Markets, Sydney.
  7. 1950s white flower brooch with leaves.

WEEKLY HIGHLIGHT: MBFWA 2013

From clean lines of Camilla and Marc, to vibrant galactic-like costumes of Romance Was Born, and to edgy and elegant ensembles of Gabriel Lee, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013 at Carriageworks, Sydney, was definitely this week's highlight. With front row celebrities, upcoming local and international designers, top models, and unique street style, it was an excitement for all. There was a great variety of colour, shape and line, which created a magnificent atmosphere and presented an insightful perspective of the fashion world prevalent in Australia. Despite not attending the amazing fashion event, I was still able to absorb the action-packed excitement of shows through the MBFWA website and other blogs.

The Lipstick Girl loves... the stunning lip colour used by Lisa Ho. Check it out and have a try yourself (Hair Romance)!
